One of Canada’s largest container homes, merging modern architecture with rugged, recycled materials to create a truly one-of-a-kind residence.
Built for Comfort
espite the challenge of regulating temperature in shipping containers, this home is super insulated with 4" of exterior styrofoam and R-22 insulated interior walls.
Sustainability at Its Core
Designed with a goal of becoming a net-zero emissions home. Attic insulation and proper window sealing are underway, with plans for solar panels to fully power the home.
Fire-Resistant & Durable
Shipping containers are not only recycled, but also fireproof—offering an added layer of resilience in wildfire-prone areas.
Owner-Built with Passion
From design to construction, this was a hands-on project. The owner served as general contractor and was deeply involved at every step.
Modular Inspiration
Initially imagined as a modular project to be shipped from overseas (China, Dubai, or India), the complexities of that route led to building locally—hacking the concept of modular construction for a uniquely Canadian context.
Muskoka Lifestyle
Set in Ontario’s scenic Muskoka region, the home offers serene, forested surroundings while showcasing cutting-edge green building techniques.
